HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation and recognition for students interested in pursuing careers in health care.

The goals that HOSA believes are vital to each member are:
· To promote physical, mental and social well-being.
· To develop effective leadership qualities and skills.
· To develop the ability to communicate more effectively with people.
· To develop character.
· To develop responsible citizenship traits.
· To understand the importance of pleasing oneself as well as being of service to others.
· To build self-confidence and pride in one's work.
· To make realistic career choices and seek successful employment in the health care field.
· To develop an understanding of the importance in interacting and cooperating with other students and organizations.
· To encourage individual and group achievement.
· To develop an understanding of current health care issues, environmental concerns, and survival needs of the community, the nation and the world.
Benson HOSA is a local chapter in Oregon HOSA, which affiliates us to National HOSA, headquartered in Southlake, Texas.
Benson HOSA is a professional student organization ran as a club which provides you connections to the health occupation career field. It promotes leadership, exposes you to the medical field, and promotes individual well-being as well as service to others.
At Benson you will participate in a variety of: volunteering, focused on health care, fundraising, job shadowing opportunities, internships, and field-based investigations.
The fall leadership program, Oregon Leadership Institute, (OLI) is for elected state and chapter officers and those interested in leadership development. Typically it is an overnight retreat in Bend, Oregon.
The Oregon Spring Leadership Conference (SLC) is at a pre-determined location each March or April and is the highlight of Oregon HOSA program. Students from all over the state come together to compete in knowledge and skill events and to be recognized for their service and talents in the healthcare field. Currently there are six categories, which include the following:
· Health Science Events
· Health Professions Events
· Emergency Preparedness Events
· Leadership Events
· Teamwork Events
· Recognition Events
